Robert S. Goldstein Chairman and C.E.O., has been with
Alter Trading Corporation and its affiliates since 1977 with
responsibilities in numerous operating and marketing positions.
Mr. Goldstein has served as President of Alter Trading Corporation
since 1989. Additionally, Mr. Goldstein is an officer and director
of affiliated transportation businesses involved in barge
transportation along the inland waterway, trucking, stevedoring
and warehousing. Mr. Goldstein also serves as a member of the
board of directors of the Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc.
(NASDAQ: ISLE). Additionally he serves as a member of Bettendorf
Riverfront Development Corporation. Mr. Goldstein is a 1977
graduate of Tulane University with a B.S. degree in economics.
Tim Oliver Senior Vice President and CFO of Alter Trading
and CFO of the Goldstein Group.
Prior to joining GGI, Tim served as CFO of MEMC, an electronic
and alternative energy materials company, and as the CFO of
Metavante (now FIS) a financial services and solutions company.
He spent nearly 12 years preparing for his CFO roles with
increasingly senior positions across all multiple financial
disciplines and industries at several S&P 500 companies including
Rockwell Automation, Raytheon Company, Honeywell, and AlliedSignal.
Before launching his career in operational Finance, Tim spent
5 years as an Investment Banker and Bond Trader at Bear Stearns
and Kidder Peabody in New York.
Tim earned a BA in Economics from Williams College, and an MBA
from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Jay Robinovitz Senior Vice President and Chief Officer of
Operations-Joined Alter Trading in Sept 2009. Jay brings over 30
years of experience in the metal recycling industry to Alter Trading.
Prior to joining Alter Jay was employed by Schnitzer Steel Industries
where he held various senior management positions including Vice
President of Business Development and Major Capital Investments, VP
and COO of the Auto Parts Division, and VP of Northwest Operations
with full P&L responsibility for operations that included three
shredding operations and multiple deep water ports facilities.
Prior to that Mr. Robinovitz was General Manager, Ferrous Division,
Aerospace Metals, Inc., Hartford, Connecticut.
Don H. Martin Vice President of Ferrous Marketing since
1997, is a Certified Public Accountant with an undergraduate degree
in accounting from the University of Toledo. Don was an Accountant
for 5 years before joining Luria Brothers in 1979. At Luria, Don
served in several accounting positions, including Assistant
Controller, before assuming responsibilities in scrap facility
management. Before joining Alter, Don was Area Manager for Luria
with full P & L responsibility, including marketing, for three
Luria scrap processing plants.
Robert Stein Vice-President of Non-Ferrous Marketing is a
thirty-year veteran of the non-ferrous metals industry, began his
career with the London based metals trading firm, Brandeis,
Goldschmidt & Company in their New York City, London and Tokyo
offices. He subsequently was employed by Commercial Metals Company
in Dallas, Texas as a copper trader, and by Louis Padnos Iron &
Metal Company as Director of both their Non-Ferrous Metals and
International Trading Divisions. Mr. Stein is President of the
Bureau of International Recycling's Non-Ferrous Division (B. I. R.,
Brussels, Belgium), and its Ambassador to North America. Stein has
also served as Chairman of the Copper and Brass Division of the
Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI, Washington, D. C.),
and is a member of the Non-Ferrous Advisory Board of the New York
Mercantile Exchange (Nymex/COMEX Division, New York City, New
York). He is a frequent speaker at industry and government
conferences on scrap metals both in the United States and abroad.
Steve E. Soltis Vice President of Operations, has been
involved in steel making and scrap processing his whole career,
dating back to 1966. Steve has an economics degree from Michigan
Technological University and a MBA from Penn State. He has served
in various functions including: Mechanical Engineer, Supervisor,
General Supervisor, Plant Manager, and Vice President at various
employers including: Inland Steel, Ogden Corporation, Mayer Pollock
Steel Company and Alter Trading Corporation.
Michael E. Vail Vice President of Operations,
came to Alter in December 2010 and is based out of our
Davenport, Iowa facility. He currently manages 12 facilities in
multiple states. Mr. Vail received his Bachelor of Arts degree
from Washington State University and his MBA from
St. Martin's College. He retired from the military after serving
9 years as a Field Artillery Officer in the U. S. Army.
Mike received numerous medals, badges and commendations for
exemplary service. He served in multiple domestic and foreign
locations acquiring unique leadership experiences and skills.
Mike has worked in progressive leadership roles and has served as
the Plant Manager for General Metals of Tacoma and Schnitzer Steel
Industries (Tacoma), General Manager for Louisville Scrap Metal
and General Manager and Vice President of Operations for Metro
Metals in Portland Oregon. Mike brings tremendous experience in
all facets of operations including ferrous and nonferrous
production, marine terminal and rail car operations.
Michael J. Spear Vice President of Operations has been
with the company since December 2006. Mr. Spear graduated from the
University of Illinois in 1981 with a B.S. Degree in Accounting.
After two years as a Cost Analyst for Sundstrand Corporation in
Rockford, IL Mr. Spear joined Samuels Recycling Company, Madison,
WI. Mr. Spear held several operations and marketing positions
before becoming Manager of Non-Ferrous Sales for the company in
1989. He then started up and developed a brokerage, trading and
hedging business for the company before being named President in
2003.
Andrew Cole Vice President of Human Resources
and Organizational Development at the Goldstein Group.
A native of Ireland, Mr. Cole has had global responsibility for
human resources and organizational development for over 15 years
that spans a number of industries.
Prior to coming to the Goldstein Group, Andrew was the lead human
resources executive at A123 Systems, a lithium-ion battery
manufacturer headquartered in Boston, MA. Prior to being acquired
by Schneider Electric, he held the lead HR position at
American Power Conversion (APC) and a global role in the
Vegetable Seed division of Monsanto.
Andrew is a co-author of a book entitled, 'Executing Your Business
Transformation' and he holds a BA and a Master's degree from
Regis University, Denver Colorado.
Robert G. Ellis Vice President and General Counsel, has
been with Alter Trading Corporation and its affiliated entities
since 1991. In his current capacities, Mr. Ellis is responsible for
the management and oversight of all legal matters involving the
company, including but not limited to all litigation, contracts,
corporate filings, and regulatory compliance. He also serves as
General Counsel for the company's affiliated entities including
Alter Barge Line, Inc., Alter Company, River/Gulf Grain Company,
and Blackhawk Fleet, Inc. Mr. Ellis received a B.A. degree with Phi
Beta Kappa honors in political science and economics from Iowa
State University, and a J.D. degree from the University of Iowa
College of Law. He has been a licensed member of the Iowa bar since
1984. He was engaged in the private practice of law for seven years
prior to joining Alter.
Robert A. Rosencrants Vice President of Operations has
been with Alter Trading Corporation since 1977. Mr. Rosencrants
graduated from Truman State University in 1976 with a B.S. Degree
in Business Management.
