Alter Trading Scrap Metal Recycling News & Press

April 4, 2008 - Alter Trading Acquires SCI Recycling

Alter has acquired the assets of SCI Recycling, including three facilities, located in Anoka, Minn., Hayfield, Minn., and Mason City, Iowa. "This is a wonderful opportunity for Alter to expand further in the Twin Cities area as well as in Iowa," said Robert Goldstein, CEO and president of Alter. "As we continue to grow in the Midwest, we want our customers to know that with Alter, they can always expect facilities that are convenient and readily available to meet their needs."

With the addition of the three yards, Alter now operates with 35 scrap handling yards, along with a number of brokerage and sales offices.

SCI, founded in 1916, handles both both ferrous and non-ferrous metals as they transition into Alter Metal Recycling locations. Tim Bernstein, vice president, operations, will be responsible for the Anoka and Hayfield yards, and Tim Rosengren will serve as the regional manager for the same. Bob Rosencrants, vice president, operations, will assume responsibility for the Mason City yard. Of the three facilities that Alter acquired, one of the yards, located in Anoka, Minn., has an auto shredder on the site.
